Articling Information

PHM prides itself on the unique articling experience that it offers. As a small boutique firm in the core of financial district in Toronto, students truly experience the best of both worlds.

By working in an environment of 12 lawyers, students work side-by-side with partners, associates and clients. Instead of reporting to the second or third lawyer in a chain of seniority, students report directly to the lawyer in charge of the matter - whether senior partner or junior associate.

At the same time, PHM offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters for clients large and small. Students may find themselves working for a large bank or insurance company, and at the same time working for the small business owner.

There is no rotation system and students will be able to gain experience in all areas of law, with a real emphasis on litigation. The litigation experience will involve more than research, and drafting pleadings but will encompass attendance on motions, pretrial hearings, and even trials and appeals, if appropriate.
